Florida Insurance Premium Taxes and Fees

Florida Insurance Premium Taxes and Fees

There are eight insurance premium taxes and fees. These taxes and fees are paid by every authorized insurance company that issues policies covering risks in Florida.

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) regulates the business of insurance in Florida. Insurers must register with OIR. How an insurance company is registered with OIR and the types of premiums written by the insurer can affect which insurance premium taxes and fees the insurer will have to pay.

Surplus Lines policies and coverage independently procured from an unauthorized insurance company are administered by the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office.
